about alan

Personal growth for me has always been about recognizing and synthesizing dualities: listening to the breath between “yes” or “no”, practicing patience and stillness or asserting creative energy, looking internally or to the materials of my surroundings for inspiration. Similarly, my experience with bodywork, and a holistic approach to my thinking and life path, has been about finding balance on a continuum.

I came to the field with a background in music, poetic theory, and creative writing—drawn out of office and customer service life by a deep desire to manifest creativity through interpersonal connection, combine the intellectual with the intuitive, and be a conduit for the body’s innate capacity to recognize imbalance, learn different patterns, and work steadily toward renewed stability. This led me to the study of integrative and holistic disciplines, movement therapies, and massage modalities—channeling my pursuit into an advanced education at the National Holistic Institute and studying with instructors affiliated with schools of physical therapy and rehab such as UCSF and the Prague School of Rehabilitation. I’ve since worked with clients of diverse backgrounds, pathologies, and treatment goals—from the injuries and performance enhancement of professional athletes to communities suffering from chronic pain and soft tissue disorders.

Duality isn’t just about one or the other. It’s about balance along the entire spectrum—in that play between light and dark, eastern bodies reconciling with western minds, the support of the ground against a potential for flight when considering a leap into the unknown. This is what various methodologies of movement therapy and bodywork have helped me cultivate and what I offer through an ethical, knowledgeable, and multi-modality practice.

Thank you.
